WASHINGTON - US President
Barack Obama announced Wednesday that he would order the
survival of US forces in Afghanistan when the size of the military 8400 until the end of his term rather than reduced to 5,500 by the end of the year. He stressed that the security situation in the country remains precarious.
He said in a statement to the press at the White House that the role of US forces in Afghanistan will remain unchanged, which is to provide training and advice to the police and Afghan army and support anti-terrorism tasks against the Taliban and other groups.
